Subject: Minimum 85% Attendance for Appearing in School Examinations

Sir/Madam,

All Students and Parents/Guardians

Dear Parents/Guardians and Students,

Regular attendance is essential for the successful completion of the prescribed curriculum, classroom learning, practical work, projects, internal assessments and other academic activities.

As per the applicable CBSE Examination Bye-Laws and attendance-related directions, students appearing in Classes X and XII Board Examinations are required to fulfil the minimum attendance criteria prescribed by CBSE.

To ensure regular academic participation and prevent students from falling below the mandatory CBSE requirement, Ballia Jaipuria School has prescribed a minimum institutional attendance benchmark of 85% for eligibility to appear in school examinations.

Accordingly, all students and parents are advised to note the following:

  1. Every student must maintain a minimum of 85% attendance during the academic session.
  2. Students having less than 85% attendance may not be permitted to appear in Periodic Assessments, Half-Yearly Examinations, Annual Examinations or any other school examination without prior approval from the Principal.
  3. The attendance percentage will be calculated from the commencement of the academic session up to the attendance cut-off date prescribed for the respective examination.
  4. Leave taken with prior permission will be recorded as authorised leave. However, authorised leave will ordinarily not be counted as physical attendance.
  5. In case of illness, parents must immediately submit a written leave application along with a valid medical certificate and other supporting documents.
  6. Leave for reasons other than illness must also be communicated to the school in writing, clearly mentioning the reason and expected duration of absence.
  7. Absence without a written application or supporting documents may be treated as unauthorised absence.
  8. Students participating in officially approved school, CBSE, sports or other recognised activities will be considered according to the applicable rules.
  9. Parents will be informed whenever a student’s attendance approaches or falls below the prescribed level. Immediate corrective action must be taken after receiving such communication.
  10. Relaxation in the school’s 85% attendance benchmark may be considered only in exceptional and properly documented circumstances, subject to the approval of the Principal.
  11. Any relaxation granted by the school will not override the minimum attendance requirement prescribed by CBSE for Board Examination eligibility.

Parents are requested to regularly monitor their child’s attendance and avoid unnecessary absence, late arrival and early departure. Regularity and punctuality are essential components of academic discipline and examination preparedness.

Yours faithfully,
